CHARACTER INFORMATION:
Name: Charles Kinder
Age: 38
Hair: Light brown
Eyes: Hazel
Build: Slim, yet defined
Strengths and talents: Is a bit of a fast talker. Using his charm and wit, he can generally turn situations in his favor with ease.
Weaknesses: Charles is extremely stubborn and generally does not know when to stop pushing a situation. He also tends to carry grudges.
Occupation: Archaeologist. He has currently been in cahoots with the Nazis, mainly because they pay well and are willing to fund his projects in return for his services.
History: Charles Kinder was born to wealthy socialites in Belgium. Being the middle child of the five Kinder children, he was often left to his own devices. At a relatively young age, he discovered his great interest in the classical cultures, opting to spend his free time in his father's large library, perusing the books that had always seemed to simply fill the room, most of the spines on them not even broken.
He studied archeology at the Ghent University in Belgium and later continued his education at Sorbonne in Paris, France, where he first came in contact with the nicknamed Indiana Jones. Being three years younger, Kinder observed the work of Jones and other students, such as Rene Belloq, from afar, making notes of their work and accomplishments, inspiring him to be even more headstrong with his own career.
Kinder was never quite able to acquire adequate funding for his research projects, most of them being supported by his family. That is, until his parents passed away and the estate fell into the hands of his eldest brother, who believed Charles' fervent study into the past was foolish. Charles was granted his inheritance on one condition, that the money not be spent on research and expeditions. So his active field studies were momentarily halted and he took a job at the Louvre, around the same time, settling down with an Italian opera singer he had met during her French tour. His wife tragically passed away not much more than a year after their marriage, leaving Kinder's life feeling empty and without drive. He disregarded his brother's wishes and once again began his active research and expeditions, causing himself to be effectively cut off from the family.
Now finding funding for his research to be even more difficult to attain than ever, a desperate Kinder was approached by a group with strong ties to the Nazi party. He was offered great deals of money to lead expeditions for them, tracking down valuable artifacts. Possessing a certain apathy towards politics (probably due to his family's obsession with it) and realizing that the group was growing steadily and would soon rise to great power anyway, he took the position, knowing that it could only help his career in the long run.
Personality: Kinder is a charming and polite man, mostly due to his upbringing in a high class home. He is intelligent, determined, headstrong, and not unwilling to bend or break a few rules to get his way. He is a lover of the arts and enjoys listening to and attending the opera, but insists that the only form of the art worth noting is the Italian, which in his mind is superior to the guttural harshness of German opera. This could also be an homage of sorts to his late wife.
Appearance: Kinder is generally very well-kept and presents himself with pride, both in his choice of clothing and his mannerisms. He has a habit of peering down his nose at people when he addresses them.
Relationship History: Married to Italian opera singer Isabella Di Bartolo (deceased)
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Turn ons: Creativity, drive, mysteriousness
Turn offs: Anyone who he may dub boring or commonplace
Allies: Certain members of the Nazi party, anyone who supports his research and expeditions
Enemies: Rival archaeologists, his eldest brother Frederik Kinder
Things most likely to do in spare time: Listen to and attend the opera, wander through museums, read. This is all assuming that he has free time at all, of course.
